Day 21

Coming into the home stretch now!

What a nice day for Harry and I out on the porch in our bare feet!

Harry really tried to win over the home care nurse while she did my intake today but she was an expert cat ignorer. He's such a good boy. I personally could not resist such a face! The nurse was also a soft talker with an accent and we know how good I am with that! We had a good laugh when I answered the question "Do you have trouble with your hearing?" With "pardon?"

So the drugs are not covered but please don't worry, I have the help I need. Maybe pray some sleep my way cause that would be much appreciated. Dr K wants to see me tomorrow before the treatment and then I'll be down to three!

A few more pictures from the big camera.

Day 20 of 25

So it's full bore ahead and damn the torpedoes!

I saw Dr K today. We decided to go ahead with the treatments and so I had number 20 today.

The main thing is that I also saw a pain specialist at the cancer centre today so I will have good pain relief. Dr Jarda thinks there's some nerve involvement and is trying to find drugs that are covered. The drug that helps the most so far is one that is often abused so ODSP and CCAC don't cover it anymore. I kind of understand that but it's not helping me right now.

They also set up with CCAC that the Care nurses will evaluate me tomorrow to see if they can help me with the wounds.

Also I have the power to call the whole thing off, if or when I need to. That's important.

My sister in law Mary has graciously offered to drive me for the rest of the way. I can't even BEGIN to say how grateful I am.

Gotta get to bed, treatment at 9 am tomorrow!

While I sleep please enjoy pictures from tonight's swim!

Nothing better than legally holding your sibling's head under the water while I time them on the iPod. They had a system of hand signals to let the other know when to let go of their heads!

What will be will be

Lovely rainy day in Wellesley with friends. Sandra was camera shy but Grace is more used to my documenting of events!

Every bite was yummy, I even didn't hate the turnip! Not pictured here was the delicious apple crumble we had later. (Or the tarts and blueberry muffins Sandra sent home with me!)

After lunch I became a lady of leisure on the couch and we chatted and played Quiddler. So much fun! That game should make an app!

Thanks ladies.

Been thinking tonight about what I hope the doctor will say tomorrow about wether we resume radiation or not. The area is much less red but I can't say that it hurts much less where the sores are.

I kind of feel like damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead. If I start back tomorrow my last day would be Halloween and that would blend in nicely with my intention of going in dressed in full pirate regalia on my last day!

We'll see what she says.

Getting there?

My sister in law Mary was here today. She's a nurse. We figured out a safe way for me to get out of the tub by myself and she said my wounds look good and clean and not infected. I'm thinking it feels a bit better today, less red too so I think we are on the turn around! That's what I'm going with till someone tells me different! We'll find out Wed what comes next.

I had another good nights sleep and am looking forward to hanging out with some friends tomorrow in Wellesley.

These are the only pictures I took today but I really like them. Bea took my money in the first game but I got most of it back! She is so photogenic. My little competitive sphinx!

While we were playing this strange little old man came over and tried to kiss Dora's hand!

Well Dora was having NONE of that. She saw him once before in the hall, and has no idea who he is or what he thinks he's up to. He has met his match in Dora!

Piratey visit with Mom

There are literally hours last night that I can tell you nothing about! Hours in a row! So awesome to sleep. I only woke up when the meds ran low.

Wish I could report otherwise but the area of the skin break down is still expanding. One of these times it'll stop!

I enjoyed looking through the pictures from yesterday.
