One direction

If I've learned one thing about walking a cat it's that you shouldn't have a destination in mind when you set out. So of course today I broke that rule and tried to head toward the garbage bin.

We walk past it almost every single time we go for a walk so I didn't think it would be a big deal to take the garbage with me.

I was mistaken.

So close and yet so far!

Nope!

Not going anywhere.

Eventually we got close enough to leave the bag within a couple of feet and I was able to get it in on the way home.

We had another argument at the end of the sidewalk. I wanted to turn left he want to turn right to see the squirrel backyard. Turns out he was right.

Today's squirrel TV was pretty incredible.

It's like they knew how to hold their tails so they were beautifully backlit.

Canada's next top models for sure.

Chasing light

Who'da ever thunk I could go to church, go to the gym and do the circuit, go grocery shopping, walk my cat and then walk some more all in one day? I'm exactly 7 months out from this new knee and it's a keeper. It's exciting! Yes I still do my outside walking with a rollator but that's almost more about core strength, having a portable chair and having somewhere to put down my camera. I'm trying to lean on the rollator less because it's actually my arms and hands complaining more than my knees most days now. Life is a balancing act.

Oh and the abdominal pain is pretty much gone now though I'll still get it checked out just to be safe. Really happy about that.

This is a picture that my friend & neighbor and fellow photography enthusiast Annie took from her balcony of Harrison and me out walking. Love it.

He's not normally heeling that nicely - more likely to be stretched out at leash end - trailing behind me, stopping every 32 seconds to establish who is setting the pace or haring off into a thicket after a chippy but it was pretty chilly so he was trotting along briskly.

It took some convincing to get him outside today after yesterday's walk in the rain. There were only bits and pieces of the sun to find.

Brown is a colour too.

I found the sun again over behind the nursing home!

Made some shortbread cookies for my friend Sharon who is coming to visit from Australia on Tuesday!

Almost too much butter if there's such a thing!

Tonight's &'s are brought to you by my niece Emily!

No special effects added. Whiskers is just that talented!

Many walks

Help! I'm drowning in a sea of pictures! So many pictures. I have such a hard time deleting anything from my iPod because the minute I do someone will ask me for it. Happened again today. I have a decent system for backing things up now but I need to organize it.

Anyway all that to say I was too pictured out last night to post. So here are yesterday's pictures. I'm happy to report that I have a couple of new walking buddies! My friend and neighbour Susan and I will be wailing every, ha ha Siri that's WALKING every Friday.

That's Susan in the black coat, and that's our friend Diane handing over Deanna's leash!

Deanna is a shy little pup who is just getting to know me. She always wants to play with Harrison but he has no time for her. Speaking of Harrison he doesn't get to come for this walk because I don't think Susan wants to stop every 10 feet to sit and watch squirrels for 20 minutes. I must say that having him watch me go around the building twice from the window seemed to inspire him to walk better when it was his turn.

Susan's roses are still looking pretty good!

We noticed some new decorations, and later I noticed some that are on their way out.

Harrison did get his walk in and like I said seemed to step pretty smartly after having been left behind.

Today I told myself I didn't have to walk because it was pretty dingy and I was doing laundry. That seemed to be all it took for me to be motivated to go for a walk.

Because it was a surprise walk even to myself I only had my iPod with me but it did okay.

Once the wash was in the dryer there was time for a Harry walk.

I was pretty proud of him because it was drizzling and he kept going anyway.

And didn't rush home when it started raining a little bit harder, although he did have to give himself a shake.

That boy is becoming positively rugged!

When we got inside I helped him dry off.

But he did his own paws...

And help with mine too!

Sweet boy.
