Training Day

Today's excitement was not knowing for a few hours if I had lost three years worth of pictures on a remote hard drive. All is well and the hard drive reappeared. It was enough though that there will be a new 3 TB hard drive purchased shortly and from now on everything will be saved twice.

All that to say my finger power is finished especially since I also did some cherries!

Thanks Deborah! I'm not sure exactly what I want to do with them yet but I think I better decide soon! They are sour cherries but after the first couple you get used to it and I enjoyed them that way too. Really nice flavor.

This is the one lonely picture I took today on my first walk because I didn't have a battery in the rebel.

So, first there was a walk around the building. Then, drum roll please, five whole minutes on my bike!

That's really kind of miraculous because a few weeks ago I couldn't make the peddle go over the top.

Then after supper I got to looking at Harrison and the profound rotundness of him and I was thinking that he often wants to go for a walk but I don't take him because of the heat and the bugs and how long he takes.

So I formulated a plan! I saw that it was about to rain and asked him if he wanted to go for a walk. I found out he knows exactly what that means. He had already been outside for a porch sit earlier. But when I said "do you want to go for a walk" he jumped up on my lap ready to be harnessed again.

So I think we will make the second walk, if it happens, to be the one where we walk for sure. No lollygagging under the tree or flopping down dramatically after 10 yards. Second time outside means a for real walk.

It will be interesting to see if I can get him trained that way. Part of the problem why he's gaining weight might be boredom anyway so this can only help.

It also helped that it started to rain at the perfect time. We had gotten exactly as far as I wanted to go and the rain helped to turn him around and be willing to go home. I have to hand it to him though, for a cat he is not a delicate flower about rain (when on a walk.)

So now it just has to rain every night at 6:30 and we will be fine! Ha!

You can't not lollygag a little bit. He is a cat after all.

On the way home we held a little vigil for the dead Cedar tree that has been taken away.

And it wouldn't be a walk without a visit to a grate!

  1. Yay! Pedal Power!

And that grate looks fascinating; can't blame him.
