Okaaay. Surfacing for air to say that the reason for the pain and drag in healing has finally revealed itself. I have an infection which isn't great news but it's treatable and sure better than not knowing what is wrong!
So yeah the monkey's tail is still in mid bite, okay no, we're past mid bite and into deep Carcharhiniforme molar action territory but there does appear to be an end (pun intended) in sight!
